2009 WFD OfficersThe Westwood Fire Department's 2009 Line Officers were sworn in on Tuesday January 6, 2009 at the Westwood Mayor and Council's Annual Reorganization Meeting. Sworn in were Chief Marc Fedorchak, Deputy Chief Chris Kelley, Sr. Captain Jaymee Hodges, Captain J.C. Mawdsley, 1st Lt. Joe Malley, 2nd Lt. James Voorhis, and 3rd Lt. George Carter.

Santa Claus is coming to Westwood Print E-mail

Santa Claus will be visiting Westwood again via the "ladder truck" during the week of December 15-19. Westwood Firefighters will helping Santa out by handing out candy canes. For more information and to see when Santa will be visiting your street click the following link.

The Westwood Fire Department will be escorting Santa Claus on their ladder truck through downtown Westwood at the annual "Home for the Holidays" celebration this Saturday 12/6. The parade starts at 6 p.m. Santa will stop at the gazebo to light the Christmas Tree and give out candy canes. Happy Holidays!
 
Car Fire Ignites Home on Palisade Ave Print E-mail

At around 9:45 a.m. the WFD was dispatched to a working fire on Palisade Avenue. Arriving units reported a working car fire inside an attached garage with extension into the rest of the dwelling. Engine 12 was first due and stretched hand lines as 14 Truck began search and vent operations. The fire was quickly knocked down limiting fire damage to the garage and floor above. Engine 16 and Rescue 17 were also on scene along with the Woodcliff Lake Fire Department as a F.A.S.T. Team. The fire started while a resident was repairing a car in the garage.
 
Kitchen Fire forces Evacuation of Senior Home Print E-mail

Firefighters were dispatched to the Westwood House, a six-story senior home on Madison Avenue, for an apartment fire. Fire Official Darren Blankenbush (19-1) arrived on scene and reported heavy smoke in the hallway. Westwood firefighters, with the help of several surround police agencies, began evacuating residents from the third and fourth floors. A small stove fire on the third floor was quickly extinguished and firefighters ventilated the building before returning to headquarters.
