Fire at Blimpe Sandwich Shop Print E-mail

Blimpie FireFire crews were dispatched at approximately 5:15 a.m. to 700 Broadway for a fire alarm and sprinkler activation. Police units arrived on scene and advised responding fire personnel that there was a heavy smoke condition coming from the Blimpie sandwich shop. A crew from first due Engine 12 stretched a hand line into the front of the store and discovered a small fire that was being contained by an activated sprinkler head. The fire was knocked down and crews checked for extension and ventilated the building. The Blimpie store sustained minor fire damage along with water and smoke damage. Two adjoining units, a bank and a GNC store, also sustained water damage. On scene: Engine 12, 14 Truck, Engine 16. Chief 15-1 was incident command.
